The 2008 Olympics will be upon us soon, kicking off 8/8/2008… which makes the occasion lucky, in Chinese culture. Because I’ve kept up todate on other National rowing events, I thought visitors might like to see more information about the New Zealand Olympic rowing team, which was mostly revealed after trials in March this year.
There was an opportunity for New Zealand rowing to get some more crews to the Olympics, this was the final selection regatta a Lucerne. Where the Men’s lightweight double secured their place. Unfortunately the women’s eight and women’s lightweight double missed out.
If you didn’t manage to get to the Olympic games and live in New zealand; you will be able to watch the TVNZ Olympic rowing coverage.

They also have some NZ rowing history on the TVNZ website:
- A good who’s who of Olympic rowing: This is some basics on who might snatch our hard earned medals, it has missed some of the competitors; for example there are at least 5 strong men’s fours that good win, the men’s single and double are also likely to be tough events with several experienced boats.
- Golden moment of NZ Rowing: Munich 1972, you can even watch a video of the race. One of the golden moments of New Zealand sport.
