You might wonder why the word of the day is so simple, it is an attempt to build an understanding of other languages:

Compiling this list, I used Answers.com translations, Google translate and the Kamusi project.
I figure that with a word a day, I might understand a dozen different words in written form. It is interesting (for me) that the Japanese characters for Sun are the same as the traditional chinese characters. I don’t include traditional chinese, only simplified… but they are still very similar.
Another note for the technically minded, is that Wordpress is wrapping the Hebrew in a span element and it seems that Firefox and Wordpress are sharing some complicated issues displaying the Hebrew when in HTML view… everything after the Hebrew appears backwards. Though Arabic, also rtl, doesn’t have the same issue.
