There were a couple of companies integrating IM chat applications into Facebook. But more people seem to have been playing ninja than loading chat applications. This should come as a warning to application developers - don’t bother extending the functionality of Facebook. If there is a niche to be filled, Facebook will just go and implement that eventually.
The big problem with applications, is everyone needs to add them for them to be useful. Applications would be more useful if more took a passive approach to account functionality. Ad it would be cool if applications could be added to any part of the Facebook page - I like the way chat appears in the bottom right.
