The New Zealand legislation website went live today, as declared in Public Access to Legislation project online at last.
The level of complexity in this web application is high, as legislation must be formatted just so, otherwise the legal meaning might be ambiguous or incorrect! It is possible to view legislation as it moves through parliament, and extract old versions of legislation… or at least it will be once the current legislation is included and old versions exist.
You are also able to download PDF renditions of legislation for free.
I’m quite impressed that we have Imperial Acts dating from as early as 1627 (The Petition of Rights). The Bill of Rights 1688 is even written in what is either the original language, or badly edited english.
